The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is a

5 million member Christian denomination. In Iowa, the ELCA has more than 500 congregations, four colleges, a seminary, an elementary school, six Bible camps and many preschools, nursing homes and other ministries including Lutheran Services in Iowa. In Iowa, the ELCA is divided into three "synods," each led by a Bishop. The three Iowa synods of the ELCA - Northeastern Iowa Synod, Southeastern Iowa Synod and Western Iowa Synod - provide community outreach, volunteers, funding and facilities for Barnabas Uplift.
